Stefanie Heinze

Stefanie Heinze has developed a highly individual body of work that moves between abstraction and figuration, establishing her as a distinctive voice in contemporary painting. On her canvases, fragmented bodies, everyday objects, and animal-like figures emerge from vividly colored, fantastical worlds. Drawing on pencil, ink, and ballpoint pen works, which she often tears apart and recombines into layered compositions, Heinze creates richly detailed paintings that balance the familiar and the uncanny, the banal and the unexplainable.

Heinze recently presented a solo exhibition at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin, accompanied by an extensive catalogue. Her work has been the subject of significant institutional presentations internationally, including Museum Arnhem; Le Consortium Museum, Dijon; The Hepworth Wakefield, England; Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami; Boros Foundation at Berghain, Berlin; Deichtorhallen, Hamburg; and Sammlung Philara, Düsseldorf.
