'Stolpern, bitte!', Kunststiftung DZ BANK, Frankfurt
October 30, 2025 – February 14, 2026

Stolpern, bitte! (Stumble, Please!) – this exhibition brings together photographs, sound, and video works that deliberately disrupt our perception. The works on display address political and social injustices, but also offer humorous perspectives on what can be shown.

With a flair for resistance, the artists also explore the boundaries of their media: They deconstruct conventions and subvert expectations. They create moments of doubt, surprise, and irritation. Through deliberate disruption, subtle punchlines, or deliberate overstimulation, visitors and observers are invited to engage with the unfamiliar and to explore new ways of seeing and listening to pressing issues of our time.

Stolpern, bitte! (Stumble, Please!) is intended as an invitation to look closely, listen, and reflect—and to productively lose control. We are delighted to have Dr. Franziska Kunze (Head of the Photography and Time-Based Media Collection, Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich) present the exhibition. She has already developed an exhibition on image glitches in Munich in 2023 entitled "Glitch. The Art of Disturbance."

On display will be works by Miroslaw Balka, Johannes Brus, VALIE EXPORT and Peter Weibel, Johannes Franzen, Gerhard Gäbler, Philipp Goldbach, Timo Kahlen, Ulrike Königshofer, Sandra Kranich, Tatiana Lecomte, Zoe Leonard, Anna Malagrida, Jana Müller, Loredana Nemes, Frida Orupabo, Manfred Paul, Paul Pfarr, Adrian Sauer, Annegret Soltau, Gabriele Stötzer, Anna Vogel, Bruno Zhu.
