Monica Bonvicini

'im Atelier Leibermann: Jorinde Voigt - Constant Vision', Stiftung Brandenburger Tor-Max Liebermann Haus, Berlin, Germany
March 15 - June 9, 2024

Monica Bonvicini's series "No Rest", from 2021, showcases digital print photographs captured by the artist over nearly two years, both at home and in hotel rooms during her travels. Each frame within the series captures a profound simplicity: a pair of pants, frequently denim, thrown on the floor and portrayed (often) turned inside-out and crumpled. The mechanical weave reproduces the photographs in clear detail, rendering the pants an almost sculptural quality and inviting viewers to explore the garments in a tactile, three-dimentional way.

The works are on view in the exhibition "At Atelier Liebermann: Jorinde Voigt - Constant Vision" at the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor/Max Liebermann House in Berlin. In this series of exhibitions, the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor is dedicated to exploring the creation process in contemporary art. This will be the ninth show of the series, where the invitate artists are curating and showing works by of contemporary art that have been an inspiration to their practice and production.
