Leyla Yenirce deals with female trauma in the context of genocide and structural violence against Yazidi women in her country of birth, Kurdistan. The artist draws on photographs of martyrs, political idols, war toys, everyday objects, and selfies connected by aesthetic formalities such as shape and color. Yenirce uses the technique of sampling in various artistic forms, layering and collaging found footage and gestural painting in her compositions.
