The 9-part series "Untitled" was created in 2008 at a time when von Heyl was intensively engaged in printing techniques. She says about herself that she has always had an affinity for the look of prints and that she often feigns this look in her paintings without making the individual pictorial steps comprehensible to the viewer. So in this series, too, she plays with different techniques of printmaking and drawing. The individual sheets are extremely process-heavy and rich in detail.
Drawings and works on paper are an integral part of Charline's artistic practice. This aspect of her artistic oeuvre has been subject of many publications and reviews - as a representative of the lively critical interest, I attach a review published in Frieze in 2009. The set is based on her major solo show at Le Consortium in Dijon, where a large group of works on paper was prominently displayed. Please find installation views enclosed. After the exhibition ended, Charline von Heyl carefully assembled this group, which we now have the pleasure of offering.
