This painting depicts the artist in a self-portrait alongside Käthe Kollwitz (1867–1945). The encounter bridges two generations of Villa Romana Prize recipients: while Mikołaj Sobczak was awarded the prize in 2026, Kollwitz resided at Villa Romana in Florence in 1906 as one of its early recipients. The work thus establishes a transhistorical dialogue between the two artists, spanning 120 years of the prize’s history.
