Monika Sosnowska’s (b. 1972; Lives and works in Warsaw) Ghosts are constructed from twisted steel armatures whose forms evoke collapsed structures or remnants of architectural frameworks. Their bent and torqued lines introduce an arresting physical presence, suggesting the endurance of material memory within altered or compromised forms.
Sosnowska approaches sculpture through the logic of architecture. Reinforcing bars, grids, and structural supports are reshaped through compression and force, creating works that reveal the limits and possibilities of these materials. The sculptures carry traces of spatial histories without relying on literal reference.
