These collected texts, which date from 1943 to 1997, mirror Austrian painter and draughtswoman Maria Lassnig’s reflections, but above all they reveal the artist as human being: recollections of places from her childhood, the experience of growing older, perceptions of stillness and solitude, as well as intense experiences of nature. These poems and fragmentary thoughts are complemented by pictures of the artist and her work.
