The 2026 summer exhibition at the Kunsthaus Gmünd is dedicated to the portrayal of women in 20th- and 21st-century art. On display are depictions of women from the classical modernist period to the present day: Henri Matisse’s dancers meet Picasso’s muses and the vibrant portraits of Alex Katz, complemented by powerful works by contemporary artists. The exhibition “Girl. Woman. Other.” unfolds a multifaceted panorama of female role models—from mother figures and icons to courageous fighters and unshakable everyday heroines. The Kunsthaus Gmünd thus once again presents an exhibition that brings international masterpieces into an impressive dialogue with current artistic perspectives. An exhibition where art and life meet.
