With the exhibition FIRE, city curator Joanna Warsza presents the second chapter of her five-year series From the Cosmos to the Commons at the St. Nikolai Memorial. The exhibition and accompanying program are dedicated to the element of fire, the apocalypse, and repair. Site-specific works by Hamburg and international artists are presented, exploring the political, ecological, and spiritual dimensions of fire in times of acute social urgency.
Against this background, contemporary artworks – presented democratically, accessibly and in a multifaceted way – ask how the cycle of destruction and renewal can be broken and what paths towards a non-violent, planetary coexistence are conceivable.
