'Nude with attitude' (Group Show), Museum Arnhem
March 14 – September 20, 2026

In the exhibition Nude with attitude, Museum Arnhem shows how artists use the naked body to discuss themes such as freedom, identity and inequality. You won’t see “perfect” bodies or manipulated images, but real people, with all their imperfections. Some of these nudes may appeal to us, some of them may evoke a sense of unease, but they invariably make us think about how we view ourselves and others. Nude with attitude features art from 1920 to the present day: from paintings to contemporary photography and performances.

We all have a relationship with nudity. In addition to our own bodies, we see many other bodies every day: on the social media apps on our phones, on the posters in the streets and in the ads on tv. These images determine what kind of bodies we are used to seeing. And anything that deviates from this, such as fat, old or changed bodies, quickly evokes shame or discomfort. In Nude with attitude, female, feminist and queer artists challenge this. Because who is allowed to be seen and who is not?

The exhibition Nude with attitude presents nudes as activistic art. Here you see bodies that fall outside the norm and may therefore cause some discomfort. Bodies in all shapes, sizes and colours. Bodies that convey a message. Nude with attitude invites you to open your mind.
