'Das öffentliche Grün' (Group Show), Kunstmuseum Bochum
April 25 – November 1, 2026

The group exhibition Das öffentliche Grün at the Bochum Art Museum is dedicated to Bochum's city park, which celebrates its 150th anniversary this year. As one of the oldest publicly accessible parks in the Ruhr region, it was established in 1876 on the site of the former commons, the city's communally used farmland and pasture. Where cows, sheep, and goats once grazed, people now stroll, play, flirt, dream, and much more. The exhibition extends from the museum into the park itself, viewing it as a multifaceted biotope full of stories and asking how we share space and resources today. Can the park still be conceived as common land, a shared space that nourishes us as an urban society? And where are these shared, jointly managed resources today?
