Next spring, the Temple de la Servette, built in a brutalist style by architect Paul Marti and inaugurated in 1970 in the Geneva neighborhood of the same name, will be demolished and replaced by a “mixed-use building” including, among other things, residential units and retail spaces.
In collaboration with MAMCO, this building is hosting this year’s edition of Art Genève Music, whose program responds to the apprehensions or forebodings suggested by a space on borrowed time. The presented works form a cycle of performances highlighting the body, the voice, and sound, each exploring, in its own way, our capacity to dismantle, deconstruct, and also renew.
• A Choir of Five (2017–2026) – Conceived by Monica Bonvicini: five performers perform figures with leather belts, used both as spatial markers and as musical instruments producing slaps and other synchronized clicks in a relentless choreography.
• The Opportune Spectator (2012–ongoing) – Alicia Frankovich: a group of performers carries out an action whose end—or “after”—is all that the audience perceives; a breathlessness that seeps in, filling the space and turning the spectator into a complicit witness.
• Duo Hanne Lippard & Renato Grieco (2025) – Combines the viola da gamba, a richly resonant Baroque instrument, with Lippard’s voice, whose texts often reference internet culture, exploring how the rise of digital communication is redefining our relationship to language.
• From 10:00 PM – Art Genève Party, in collaboration with MAMCO – Exclusive live performance by Bonnie Banane, Dj Set Jan Vorisek, Bar Le Square.
