André Rottmann is a Berlin-based art historian and critic whose work focuses on the history and theory of sculpture after Minimalism, site-specific art and institutional critique, contemporary painting and art’s relation to (media) ecologies. His writings have appeared in journals like OCTOBER (the advisory board of which he joined in 2024), Grey Room, Artforum, Cahiers d’Art and Texte zur Kunst, among others, and in catalogues of museums and exhibitions such as the Museum of Modern Art New York, Foundation Louis Vuitton Paris, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Reina Sofia, Madrid, Kunstmuseum Basel, K21 Düsseldorf, and Skulptur Projekte Münster 2017. Since 2022 he has been an Assistant Professor for Art and Media Theory at Europa-Universität Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder).
