Overview

Opening: 2 April, 5:30 - 7:30 pm

In celebration of #59 Magazine's 12.5 year anniversary, Capitain Petzel is hosting a pop-up show in the lower exhibition space featuring photographs by Donata Wenders, Wim Wenders, Andre Villers, Edward Quinn, Jean Dieuzaide, Ernst Scheidegger, Griet Van Malderen and founder Mart Engelen.

Established by the Dutch photographer Mart Engelen in 2009, #59 Magazine is entirely dedicated to black and white photography. With topics as diverse as cultural heritage, art, travel, icons and rebels, #59 Magazine is a niche publication that comes out three times a year. Over the years, Engelen has collaborated and published interviews with world-renowned artists, including Robert Longo, Julian Schnabel, Tony Cragg, Wim & Donata Wenders, Andre Villers, the Irving Penn Foundation, Ernst Scheidegger, the Edward Quinn Archive, and many others. Each issue is quickly becoming a sought-after collector's item. In addition to the webshop, #59 Magazine is available in selected bookstores, concept stores, museums, art galleries, and fairs in more than sixteen countries worldwide. In summer 2022 #59 Magazine celebrates its 12.5 Year Anniversary and, still true to his original concept, Mart Engelen continues to pursue unique and timeless content combined with extraordinary photography.
