"Grief Hope" references to “environmental grief”, which describes mourning the loss of nature and its creatures. This notion is steeped inevidence that the Earth’s sixth mass extinction event is already underway, that our global ecosystem is growing weaker and weaker and that the entire biosphere is being irreparably destroyed by human activity.

Andrea Bowers has over the last 20 years gained an international reputation as an artist and social activist. In 2022 she had a large survey exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles. Recently the artist had her first solo exhibition, "Moving in Space without Asking Permission", in an Italian institution with Fondazione Furla at Galleria d‘Arte Moderna di Milano.
