The 2021 painting depicts the forms of the artist’s usually recognizable world dissolving, and in grayscale, introducing a dystopian element into his world cosmology.
These coloured light panels which Mullican began in the 1970s already, concern themselves with abstract re-drawings of figurative scenes, reducing them to mere outlines. This graphic abstraction by means of reduction also recalls Gerhard Richter's coloured chart pictures from that time.Exhibitions
