'F as in Frank', Museum of Contemporary Art, Cleveland, OH
September 24, 2020 – January 2021
'F as in Frank' brings together six different artistic practices to reflect on the power of being frank. Including new work by Andrea Bowers, EJ Hill, OOIEE, Paul Ramírez Jonas, and Cally Spooner, and presented alongside and in direct dialogue with the work of Felix Gonzalez-Torres (1957-1996), the exhibition underscores the importance of speaking freely and from the heart.
Defined as the willingness to speak candidly, openly, and honestly, the word “frank” reinforces the power that comes from communicating directly and sincerely to address uncomfortable truths. Installed throughout moCa’s galleries and interstitial spaces, the constellation of works in F as in Frank raises poignant questions about our current moment in time, touching on love and loss, the construction of power, the state of our environment, and what the future holds.
